What Families Need to Know / Expectations
The Huntington CLC Core Program provides opportunities for
children to develop
Intellectually – through activities that promote student
learning and intellectual development.
Socially – through the encouragement of cooperative
play with other children.
Physically – through fine and gross motor activities.
Emotionally - through the recognition of their own feelings
and those of other children.
Student Expectations
Expectations for students enrolled in the Huntington Core
Program and all other CLC enrichment clubs are the same as
during the regular school day. They will conduct themselves
in a manner that guarantees a safe and enjoyable learning
environment. All appropriate behavior is summed up in the
Huntington School rules:
When a child is registered in the Huntington CLC before/after school programs, Lincoln Parks & Recreation sends a copy of its discipline policy to parents/ guardians. It is as follows:
Discipline Policy
Lincoln Parks and Recreation - Huntington Community Learning
Center
| 1) First Incident of Continued disruptive behavior |
|
|
Warnings are issued. Children are encouraged to continue their activity responsibly, or they take a time out. They may resume their activity when the behavior is corrected (following the time out). |
|
The child is given a second time out, and may resume the activity when the behavior is corrected (following the time out). |
|
The child is suspended for the balance of the day or for the following day. Parents may be called to come and pick up their child. They will be informed that their child is suspended for the remainder of the day (or for the following day) and arrangements need to be made for their child during this time. |
| 2) If there is a 2nd incident of continued disruptive behavior |
A one day suspension will be imposed. |
| 3) If there is a 3rd incident of continued disruptive behavior. |
A minimum of one week (5 program days) suspension will be imposed. |
| 4) If there is a 4th incident of continued disruptive behavior |
A minimum of one week suspension will be imposed |
| 5) If there is a 5th incident of continued disruptive behavior |
Possible suspension for the remainder of the program year. |
Note: If there are continual or more severe problems with a child, the CLC Site Supervisor may feel it is necessary to move through the warning, time out and suspension steps more quickly then outlined above.
Incident reports are used to document happenings regarding the site and the participants. Suspensions are always documented on an Incident Report. Keeping Parents informed when behavior problems begin with their child is key for the CLC Staff, (since communicating problems early can often help reduce, or even stop problems or negative behaviors from escalating).
