What Families Need to Know / Expectations

Sign In and Out Policy
We require you to come inside and sign out your child on the sign-in sheet, which will be located in the auditorium. On the table in front of the bulletin board will be a sheet that you need to sign. Also, the card on the bulletin board can tell you where your child is located in the building. If you remember please take the card out and place it in the box on the table.

Absences
We ask that CLC is notified when your child is going to be gone from CLC. If you know in advance that your child is going to be gone you may tell a staff member the day before. If your child is ill or is unexpectedly going to be gone there are two ways to inform the CLC of the absence.

1. Call the school and ask them to put a note in our box.
2. Call the CLC cell phone at 540-2469 (no voice mail)

Illness Policy
If your child is not feeling well, is sick, or has an accident at CLC, we will call you. The student will be able to sit out of the activities until he/she is picked up.

Snack
We provide a snack everyday that contains two foods from the basic food groups. If you would prefer to send a snack in addition or instead of, feel free to do so. Please let us know if there are foods that your student is unable to eat.

Discipline Policy
First incident of disruptive behavior Issue a verbal warning
If disruptive behavior continues Student is given a Think Time, then returns to the activity
If disruptive behavior continues Student is given another Think Time, then returns to the activity
If disruptive behavior still continues Student will be suspended for the rest of
Or the child refuses to take the Think Time the day, or the following program day

Suspension outline is as follows:

  • First suspension is one day.
  • Second suspension is one day.
  • Third suspension is one week (5 program days)
  • Fourth suspension is one week (5 program days)
  • Fifth suspension is for a minimum of 40 program days

*If the student reaches a 40 day suspension and is able to return to the program, the suspension outline is different.

We reserve the right to skip steps when disruptive behavior creates a safety concern for any of the students.

Personal Belongings
We ask that students leave all personal items at home. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items. If the CLC staff spots a disruptive object, it will be confiscated until a parent picks the student up.

Safety and Transportation
Your child’s safety is our first priority. Every precaution will be taken to ensure your child’s safety. We follow all school rules and reinforce them at all times. Rules are posted on the bulletin board all year and are used as a constant reminder for students and staff. When field trips are taken all children are transported in Lincoln Parks and Recreation vehicles. All drivers have completed drivers training with Lincoln Parks and Recreation.

We are always looking for feedback regarding our programs. Feel free to talk to any leader regarding our programs and your child. I look forward to another great school year as the Before and After School Enrichment Director for Pershing School CLC.
